Role Purpose:

IPPF is seeking a motivated individual to drive digital transformation across the Federation and support member associations (MA) in the implementation of IPPF’s Digital Health Interventions (DHI) Framework. This role is pivotal in developing strategies, providing expert advice, offering thought leadership, and supporting capacity sharing on DHI across MA/country-specific digital health workplans. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, an IPPF DHI Centre housed in Colombia, and global and regional tech partners on the execution of IPPFs DHI framework.

Job Title: Senior UN Advocacy Advisor

Role Purpose: As the Senior UN Advocacy Advisor, you will lead our advocacy activities at the UN in Geneva. Your work will support and advance SRHRJ and gender equality within UN contexts, strengthen the normative SRHRJ framework, and build national commitment to SRHRJ by engaging with IPPF Member Associations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of UN advocacy activities in Geneva.
  • Position IPPF as a proactive SRHRJ leader, responsive to critical issues.
  • Identify advocacy opportunities to raise awareness of SRHRJ and gender equality.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including UN missions, agencies, NGOs, and other networks.

Expertise and Skills:

Role Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to position IPPF and its Member Associations as strategic partners for European institutional donors, ensuring long-term financial sustainability for SRHR programming. The role-holder will lead in 1-2 donor engagement efforts, will support other donor leads, develop high-quality proposals that align with IPPF’s priorities and donor requirements.

Beyond financial mobilization, the role will enhance IPPF’s visibility among government officials, civil servants, and parliamentarians, will support development of strategic input on SRHR policy and funding trends. Additionally, they will ensure effective oversight of donor-funded programming and contracts, maintaining compliance, mitigating risks. Through these efforts, the role directly contributes to expanding IPPF’s global impact, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where SRHR funding is most needed.

We are seeking a transformational leader to serve as our next Director-General, steering our globally distributed Federation with vision, courage, determination, resilience and a deep commitment to justice. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Director-General will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of IPPF’s work, from strengthening the impact of Member Associations to driving global advocacy and policy influence. They will act as a powerful voice for SRHR, ensuring IPPF remains a leading force in the global movement for sexual and reproductive rights. With a deep understanding of international development, governance and the shifting political landscape, they will navigate complex challenges while uniting and inspiring our diverse membership and community.  

The successful candidate will be a bold and strategic experienced leader with extensive experience leading large values-driven international organisations with a strong understanding of federated structures and governance. A skilled advocate and coalition-builder, they will influence public policy, forge high-level partnerships and drive impact. Their expertise in resource mobilisation will ensure financial sustainability and growth, while strong financial and strategic acumen will enable effective management of complex budgets. Exceptional relationship-building skills will allow them to navigate diverse cultural, political, and crisis environments with diplomacy and integrity. The salary is competitive and commensurate with the seniority of the appointment. The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is the world’s largest civil society organisation advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). For over 70 years, we have worked through our Federation of Member Associations in 120 countries and Collaborative Partners in 38 more, to deliver life-saving services and champion human rights. At the heart of our mission is the provision – and advocacy in support of – integrated healthcare to anyone who needs it regardless of race, gender, sex, income, and crucially, no matter how remote. Guided by Strategy 2028, we are reimagining our future to be more locally owned, globally connected and unapologetically bold in advancing SRHR, gender justice and human rights. 

We are seeking a transformational leader to serve as our next Director-General, steering our globally distributed Federation with vision, courage, determination, resilience and a deep commitment to justice. This is an opportunity to lead one of the world’s largest, and most impactful SRHR movements, driving bold action to improve lives and uphold the right to sexual health free from violence, discrimination and inequality. 

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Director-General will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of IPPF’s work, from strengthening the impact of Member Associations to driving global advocacy and policy influence. They will act as a powerful voice for SRHR, ensuring IPPF remains a leading force in the global movement for sexual and reproductive rights. With a deep understanding of international development, governance and the shifting political landscape, they will navigate complex challenges while uniting and inspiring our diverse membership and community.  

The successful candidate will be a bold and strategic experienced leader with extensive experience leading large values-driven international organisations with a strong understanding of federated structures and governance. A skilled advocate and coalition-builder, they will influence public policy, forge high-level partnerships and drive impact. Their expertise in resource mobilisation will ensure financial sustainability and growth, while strong financial and strategic acumen will enable effective management of complex budgets. Exceptional relationship-building skills will allow them to navigate diverse cultural, political, and crisis environments with diplomacy and integrity. With deep sector knowledge in global health, development, humanitarian response, and human rights, they will be committed to grassroots, member-led 

approaches and driving transformative change. Above all, they will be deeply committed to the fight for sexual and reproductive rights, bringing authenticity, bravery and a relentless drive for progress.

Longlisted candidates will be invited to interview first with Perrett Laver. The Selection Panel will meet subsequently to decide upon a final shortlist for the post. Formal interviews with IPPF will likely take place in June/July, with an appointment made later in 2025. 

This role offers flexibility in terms of location, with a preference for the position to be based in London, Nairobi, Brussels, or New Delhi. The ideal candidate will be highly mobile, adaptable, and willing to travel extensively across IPPF’s regions.  

The salary is competitive and commensurate with the seniority of the appointment. The appointment period will initially be four years, with the possibility of being extended to a maximum of eight years.  This is a post for which IPPF if necessary, will apply for a Certificate of Sponsorship (work permit).
